Rational Arguments of Gah: an Analysis
الملخص
The rejection of Prophet Muhammad’s traditions by certain groups in Malaysia is a serious problem that must be addressed by all the Muslim community in this country. The allegations made by the Group of Anti Hadith (GAH) according to the conflict that exists between the Hadith and Quran in addition to the issue of its validity as a source of law in religion often presented in the form of arguments and evidence which is said to be rational, logical, scientific, and etc. If left unchecked, this could be a big blow to the sanctity of religions and the scientific methodology used in traditional Islamic scholarship. Therefore, this paper focuses on analyzing issues related to rational argumentation used by GAH from an Islamic perspective. The discussion covers related aspects of the position and role of the mind in the framework of Islamic scholarship and methodology of GAH in rejecting Hadith rationally with relevant examples. As a result, some of the suggestions put forward in the effort to understand and counter the arguments of GAH based on rational and logical approach.
ABSTRAK
Penolakan terhadap hadis Nabi SAW oleh golongan tertentu di Malaysia merupakan suatu masalah serius yang perlu ditangani oleh semua kalangan masyarakat Islam di negara ini. Dakwaan-dakwaan yang dilakukan oleh GAH atau Golongan Anti Hadis mengenai percanggahan yang wujud antara hadis dan al-Quran selain isu kesahannya sebagai sumber hukum dalam agama sering dikemukakan dalam bentuk penghujahan dan bukti yang dikatakan sebagai rasional, logik, ilmiah dan seumpamanya. Sekiranya dibiarkan, perkara ini boleh memberikan impak yang besar terhadap kesucian agama ini dan metodologi ilmiah yang digunakan dalam tradisi keilmuan Islam. Justeru, makalah ini terfokus untuk menganalisis isu berkaitan penghujahan secara rasional yang digunakan oleh GAH dari perspektif Islam. Perbincangan merangkumi aspek-aspek berkaitan kedudukan dan peranan akal dalam kerangka keilmuan Islam serta metodologi dan penghujahan GAH dalam menolak hadis secara rasional berserta contoh-contoh yang relevan. Hasilnya, beberapa cadangan diutarakan dalam usaha untuk memahami dan menangkis penghujahan GAH berdasarkan pendekatan rasional dan logik akal.
