Associate Prof. Dr. Syed Najihuddin Syed Hassan currently works at the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies, USIM | Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. He does research in Quran and Hadith studies related to technological innovation, educational issues, and the advancement of historical Islamic manuscripts.

Managing Editor

Siti Mursyidah Mohd Zin is a lecturer at the Department of Al-Quran and Sunnah, Selangor Islamic University (UIS). She obtained her Master’s degree in Quran and Sunnah from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Usuluddin from Mu’tah University, Jordan. Her areas of expertise include Hadith, Human Development, Hadith Gamification, and Islamic Studies. She has contributed to various journals and edited numerous articles in the field of Hadith and Islamic Studies. She can be contacted at sitimursyidah@uis.edu.my.

EDITORIAL PANEL

Mohd Norzi Nasir, a Lecturer of the al-Quran and al-Sunnah Department, FPPI, KUIS. He hold a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies (Hadith), Faculty of Islamic Studies, UKM and Bachelor of Islamic Studies (Hadith) from Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. At present, he is actively completing various knowledge-based studies through national and university research grants of FRGS, Selangor SUK Grant and KUIS GPIK amounting to RM 237,615. During his service, the Hadith and Aqidah Research Institute (INHAD) had once appointed him as Deputy Director. As a researcher he involved in writing, translating and editing academic books and Journal of Hadis published by INHAD, KUIS. Later, he took on the responsibility as KUIS Head of Publishing, Innovation and Marketing from 2013-2014. Apart from being a lecturer he was also appointed as INHAD Research Fellow until 2020.

Dr. Suriani Sudi completed her Ph.D in Hadith at  Universiti Islam  Selangor (UIS). Master in Hadith at University of Malaya, and BA in Hadith at Al-Azhar University, Cairo. Dr Suriani published significant journal articles and authored several working papers in the field of Hadith and Islamic Studies. Her area of expertise include Hadith, Human Development and Islamic Studies. Dr. Suriani has also been selected as a writer in magazines, speakers and panels in motivational and academic programs, as well as educational and human development programs in mosques around Selangor. Dr. Suriani is currently a lecturer at the Department of Al-Quran and Sunnah, KUIS and has been serving the institution since 2007.  She can be contacted via suriani@uis.edu.my

Prof. Dr. Syed Salman Al-Husaini Al-Nadwi [Profile]

A scholar and professor in the Islamic sciences. He is an author of numerous scholarly works in Arabic and Urdu. Prof. Syed Salman is serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Dawah at the Darul-uloom Nadwatul Ulama madrasa in Lucknow, India. He is also serving as the chairman of the Dr. Abdul Ali Unani Medical College and Hospital, Chancellor of Darul Uloom Syed Ahmad Shaheed – Katoli, President of Jamiat Shabaab ul Islam. He is also a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, member of the court of Aligarh Muslim University, a member of Rabita Adab Islami Alalami, a member of Islamic Fiqh Academy (India) and a member of many other Islamic organisations. In addition, he is a founding member of numerous medical, IT and engineering colleges in India. Prof. Syed Salman is also the editor and co-editor of thirteen different periodicals in English, Urdu, Persian and Arabic languages published in India and abroad.

 

Dr. Nizam Muhammad Solih Ya’qubi (Islamic Economic Expert and Hadith Scholar)

 

Dr. Muhammad Akram Nadwi [Profile]

Dr. Mohammad Akram Nadwi, a former research fellow at Oxford University – is most reputed for his ground-breaking research on the female scholars of Islam in the field of Hadith. This research spanned a period of 15 years and resulted in the 57-volume work detailing and analysing the biographies of over 9000 female scholars from the time of Prophet Muhammad until today. This work is hailed as a unique masterpiece in the history of Islam.

Dr. Nadwi completed his BA ‘Alimiyyah Degree and MA in Hadith Studies with first class honours and top of his class. He was directly appointed to teach at the Institute by the then director, Shaykh Abul Hasan ‘Ali Nadwi. While teaching at Nadwatul ‘Ulama, Dr. Nadwi pursued further studies at Lucknow University in the field of economics (BA) and he then completed a PhD programme in Arabic Literature.

Dr. Nadwi, at the request of Shaykh Abul Hasan ‘Ali Nadwi, joined the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, University of Oxford, as a research fellow in 1989. In addition to numerous research papers, he has authored and translated over 30 titles on Language, Jurisprudence, Qur’an and Hadith. In 2013, he relinquished his post at University of Oxford to focus on his own writings which include a comprehensive explanation on the classical hadith masterpiece Sahih Muslim.

Dr. Nadwi’s authoring and teaching experience spans over 30 years. His introductory books on Arabic Grammar (Al-Nahw), Morphology (Al-Sarf) and Principles (Usul) of Tafsir, Hadith and Fiqh are used all over the world in madrasahs, Islamic institutes and colleges teaching ‘Alimiyyah (Islamic scholarship degree) students. He has also assisted many of the Islamic colleges with curriculum development.

Dr. Nadwi’s passion for learning and teaching made him travel around the world to visit and study under many of the renowned scholars of our time. He is widely recognised as one of Western Europe’s leading Islamic scholars and thinkers.

 

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abullais Shamsuddin [Profile]

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abullais joined IIUM in 1993 as an Assistant Professor immediately after completion of his Ph.D. He is now Professor of Hadith in the Department of Quran and Sunnah Studies. He has to his credit more than a dozen books, and quite a number of research papers published in international refereed journals, all in Arabic. He has presented a number of papers in international conferences on Hadith-related issues and delivered several keynote addresses in conferences and lectures in universities in Malaysia and outside. He has supervised a large number of Ph.D students theses from different parts of the world. He is teaching, researching, supervising, and publishing in the field of Hadith and Hadith Studies in IIUM. His expertise in Hadith is widely-recognized in and outside Malaysia. Most of his books are prescribed as textbooks in many universities in the world, besides IIUM.
