Suspicions Casted on the Sunnah Al Nabawiyyah: Identifications and Responses

Abstract

This research presents the most important suspicions raised regarding the authority of the Sunnah. Among such obscurities are that God ensures the preservation of the Qur’an only and not the Sunnah; that the Qur’an is above reverting to the Sunnah as it addresses all things; that citing the Sunnah as evidence is invalid by virtue of certain hadiths; that the Prophet (PBUH) did not permit the written record of the Sunnah which indicates its invalidity; that it is not permissible to cite a single report (khabr ahad) as evidence for shari’ah rulings; and that Abu Hurayrah has fabricated many of the hadiths of the Prophet (PBUH) because it is impossible  for him to narrate such a large volume of hadiths given his limited encounter with the Prophet (PBUH). These are the most prominent objections of the Sunnah by deviant sects of Islam and orientalists and their westernised contemporary Muslim students who are hostile to Islam. This research collected the most prominent objections and responds to each based on Islamic evidence.

يعرض هذا البحث أهمّ الشُّبُهات والمطاعن التي أُثيرت في حُجّية السُّنّة النبوية ووُجوب العمل بها، مثل: أنَّ الله تكفَّل بحفظ القرآن الكريم فقط وليس بالسُّنّة، وأنَّ القرآن يُغني عن الرجوع إلى السُّنّة لاشتماله على كل شيء، وأنَّ الاحتجاج بالسُّنّة يبطل بدلالة بعض الأحاديث نفسها، وأنَّ النبيّ r لم يسمح بكتابة السُّنّة ما يدل على بُطلان حُجّيتها، وأنَّه لا يجوز الاستدلال بخبر الواحد لبناء الأحكام الشرعية عليه، وأنّ أبا هريرة t قد دَسَّ على النبيّ r كثيراً من الأحاديث؛ لأنه من المستحيل أن يروي عنه عدداً ضخماً من الأحاديث وهو لم يصاحبه إلا فترةً قصيرةً. فهذه أبرَزُ الشبهات والمطاعن التي ردَّد بها الْمُنكِرون للسُّنّة من أصحاب الفِرَق المنحرفة عن الإسلام وعقيدته، والمستشرقون المعاندوين للإسلام وتلامذتهم من المسلمين المستغربين في العصر الحديث. وهذا البحثُ جَمَع في طيّاته أهمَّ تلك الشبهات والمطاعن، وعَرَضها مع الرَّدّ على كلّ منها في ضوء الأدلة الشرعية.
